  A selection of essays examining the influence and nature, both of the artist Caspar David Friedrich and his painting Das Eismeer. Also included is an examination of the exhibition "The Wreck of Hope".

Symposium

 

  This part of the site will be opening later, following a discussion and panel debate around "The Wreck of Hope" to be held on April 3rd, 2000 at 7:30 pm in the gallerey. A complete video documentation of the symposium with a guided tour of the exhibition will be included in this section.

Friedrich Society   The Friedrich Society was founded in 1998. It is a group of artists art historians, and writers which meets informally upstairs in the Plough Tavern in Bloomsbury for lectures and discussions.
